[ Safety Culture ]

We support our members by delivering industry-relevant safety training tailored to the commercial construction industry.

Through a variety of programs, we help evaluate and strengthen your safety culture using company and project safety audits, safety plan reviews, employee training, and unbiased, actionable recommendations.

Our safety initiatives align with ABC’s Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP), a nationally recognized program that helps companies measure, benchmark, and continuously improve their safety performance. We also promote Total Human Health, ABC’s holistic approach to safety that goes beyond the jobsite to address mental health, substance misuse prevention, and overall well-being—recognizing that a healthy workforce is a safer, more productive workforce.

These services can be delivered directly by our chapter or through a vetted network of qualified ABC member companies. In addition, ABC Florida Gulf Coast has partnered with OSHA through the OSHA Alliance Program to promote jobsite safety, improve employee health and well-being, and strengthen communication between ABC members and OSHA—working together toward a safer, more informed workforce.

Measure Your Performance on Key Components

ABC’s STEP Health and Safety Management System provides contractors and suppliers with a robust, no-cost framework for measuring safety data and benchmarking with peers in the industry.

The self-assessment tool helps participants identify real opportunities for scalable growth in their health and safety programs to lower their total recordable incident rates.

Total Human Health

ABC members care about their employees. Not only do they want to send them home safe at the end of the shift, they also want them to live a healthy lifestyle and enjoy the abundance life has to offer through their careers and beyond. The Total Human Health Initiative encompasses multiple dimensions of health organized within four, simple and easy to remember categories: Body, Heart, Mind, and Soul.
