The NEXGEN Leadership Training Program is an 8 month series designed to enhance the leadership skills and industry knowledge of high-potential construction professionals. Through monthly educational sessions which incorporate leadership training, relationship building and community involvement activities, ABC’s NEXGEN program prepares professionals for current and future leadership roles within the industry and ABC
As a chosen candidate for the NEXGEN Leadership Training Program, I understand that the value of the program is dependent upon class participants’ level of engagement and that the following rules are enforced in an effort to allow the program to operate at the highest level.
1. Attendance. Absences are discouraged due to the limited number of classes. If a class participant is going to miss a class meeting, ABC should be notified 48 hours in advance. If a class participant misses more than two classes, they will be dropped without refund and the nominating supervisor will be notified.
2. Class Dates & Times. The NEXGEN program runs from September through April. Classes are typically held on the second Wednesday of the month from 9:00am-5:00pm. Class participants will be provided with anticipated class dates upon acceptance to the program. *Class dates are subject to change due to scheduling constraints with the locations and speakers.
3. Class Structure. Classes are structured to include leadership coaching, industry specific content and a networking component. Class participants are expected to attend all parts of each class.
4. Cell Phones/Tablet Usage. Cell phone and tablet/computer use during class is prohibited. NEXGEN participants are expected to be engaged with speakers and presenters during class meetings. Professional breaks will be provided in which cell phone and tablet/computer use will be permitted. Continued use of cell phone or tablets/computer during a class session will result in being asked to leave and count as an absence. The nominating supervisor will also be notified.
5. Business Etiquette. NEXGEN provides the opportunity to build relationships and expand your personal network with other industry professionals. Some of whom might be potential customers or clients. NEXGEN is not a platform for pitching your company, product or service to other classmates.
6. Small Group Participation. NEXGEN class participants will be asked to participate in small groups throughout the duration of the program. These groups will be made up of about 10 of your classmates. A group leader will be assigned who will be tasked with coordinating a small group activity outside of our monthly NEXGEN meeting date (lunch, happy hour, Top Golf, etc.).
7. Graduation. A graduation ceremony will be held in May, following the completion of the program. Attendance by class participants and their nominating supervisor, is strongly recommended.
8. NEXGEN Alumni Engagement. Being a part of the NEXGEN Leadership Program includes joining an alumni base of over industry professionals and leaders. Many of these individuals are not only leaders within their organizations but also within ABC. The commitment to the NEXGEN Program does not end at the completion of your class but extends to involvement with the alumni group.
